We’re excited to roll out our latest update: Smart Tag Sync for VIP Tiers, which allows VIP tier tags to be automatically synced to your Shopify customer profiles. This unlocks more intelligent customer segmentation, supports layered pricing strategies via third-party apps, and enhances your ability to deliver personalized campaigns with ease.
Shopify tags is a powerful tool that enables you to efficiently organize and manage customers and orders within your Shopify admin. By tagging customers as they progress through different VIP tiers, you can easily identify and segment your most valuable customers for targeted marketing and improved service.

Trigger actions based on tag changes—such as sending a welcome email when a customer reaches VIP-Gold, or applying exclusive benefits automatically.

Filter Shopify reports by VIP tags to better understand purchase behavior and revenue contribution across loyalty levels.
How it works
When the VIP program and VIP tier tag sync feature are enabled, Loloyal will automatically sync the corresponding tier tag (e.g., VIP_Bronze, VIP_Silver, VIP_Gold) to the customer profile in your Shopify admin whenever a customer’s VIP tier changes.

● Whether a customer moves up or down a tier, their tag will be updated in real time to always reflect their current VIP status—completely automated with no manual action required.
● If you wish to customize the tag names for each VIP tier, you’ll need to first disable the VIP tier tag sync feature.
● For stores with a large customer base, please note that due to Shopify API rate limits, the initial sync may take approximately 1 day per 100,000 customers.
● To ensure each customer always reflects their most up-to-date VIP tier, Loloyal will first remove any previously synced tier tags from the customer during tier changes or full sync, and then apply the tags for the current tier.
Enabling VIP tier tag sync
To enable the VIP Tier Tag Sync feature in Loloyal, follow these steps:
  • 1. Go to Loloyal Admin > VIP Program > VIP Tiers.
  • 2. In the VIP Tiers list, select to edit each tier and assign a custom tag to it (e.g., VIP_Bronze, VIP_Silver, VIP_Gold).
👉Note: Before modifying the VIP tags, you must first deactivate them. Go to Preferences-> Smart tags to turn it VIP tier tags sync function deactivate.
  • 3. Then navigate to Loloyal Admin > Preferences > Smart Tags.
  • 4. Enable the Smart Customer Tagging – VIP Tier Tags Sync option.
  • 5. Finally, click the Save button to apply the changes.
Once enabled, Loloyal will automatically sync the correct VIP tier tag to the customer’s profile in Shopify whenever their tier changes—streamlining customer segmentation and management.
